It may seem basic, but a good sense of balance truly is the foundation upon which the rest of your fitness is built.
Balance training helps improve your postural alignment, joint stability, reaction time and coordination. When you have a good sense of balance, all your cardio, resistance & functional exercises can be performed more efficiently & in better form.
Below, Elaine demonstrates three exercises you can do to work on your balance anytime, anywhere using just your body and gravity. For each exercise be sure to:
- Clear the floor around you and stand near a wall so you can use it as support if you begin to fall.
- Find a non-moving focal point to look at.
- Contract your abs.
- Contract your glutes.
