Friends with (Health) Benefits
At AAY! Fitness, we make a conscious effort to get to know each member personally. But more importantly, we encourage our members to get to know each other in class and through events and outings like our upcoming Silver Lake Reservoir Walk.
It's heartwarming to see the variety of friendships that have been formed in our community, often between people of different ages, backgrounds & careers, who may never have met were it not for AAY!
The benefits of forming friendships with the people you exercise with go much deeper than merely expanding your social circle. There are significant health & fitness benefits as well.

We all know how easy it is to talk yourself out of a workout. But when you know your friend will be in class, and is expecting you to be there too, you're more likely to get out of bed instead of hitting snooze when your alarm goes off.

When you work out alongside strangers, no one's going to notice or care if your energy starts to flag. But a friend will offer you encouragement and give you an extra boost of motivation when the going gets tough.

And if your friend is more fit than you are, even better! Studies have shown that when you work out with someone who is stronger or faster than you, you'll be more likely to test your own limits and increase your intensity. That competitive instinct can help you push past your comfort zone.

We tend to mirror the lifestyle habits of the people we spend the most time with.
